Church of Agia Marina
In one of the oldest districts of Ioannina, in the center of the city, "Kaloutsia" (34, Agias Marinis street), the parish church is dedicated to the Great Martyr Agia Marina. The oldest information we have about the Church of Agia Marina, is that it was built in 1791. It was twice burned by sultan troops, in 1820 and 1829. The present church was built with the generosity of the Zosimades brothers in the year 1852.
It is a three-aisled basilica, strongly influenced by the traditional architecture of the area. The high stone steeple was completed in 1949. The iconostasis is made of wood, with light carving and was gilded in 1900. In the southern part of the courtyard there is a small temple dedicated to the New Martyr Saint Ioannis of Ioannina.
